Vice
Chancellor’s Corner
Vice Chancellor Student
Affairs, Manuel N. Gómez, Ph.D.
We are all looking forward to the warm weather of spring, but not necessarily to the spring fever which many students will suffer in the coming months— and hopefully not too close to midterms and finals. Even though Southern California does not fully experience the four seasons, there is still a lighter feeling around campus during spring quarter, which probably has as much to do with the end of the school year as it does with the weather.

Housing Update
Housing Payments Made Easier for 2009-10
Student Housing is changing the way that monthly or quarterly housing payments are made.
All Housing charges pertaining to 2009-10 will appear in students’ ZotAccount Online and can be paid just like tuition and other education related fees – either electronically through Net.Pay or by bringing or mailing payment to the Central Cashier, 228 Aldrich Hall, Irvine, CA 92697-1975.
Housing charges covered by financial aid will be paid automatically when aid awards are distributed to student ZotAccounts.
For additional information, visit the Student Housing Web site, www.housing.uci.edu or call (949) 824-6811.

Parents and families of graduating students:
Does your student have a story to tell?
The UCI Commencement Team is looking for stories about UCI’s Class of 2009.
Is your student part of a family affair of graduates, e.g., a mother/daughter combo or assorted Anteater siblings? Did your student create a one-of-a-kind major? Are they a first generation college graduate? Or getting their dream job after graduation? Perhaps your student overcame difficult odds getting to college and plans to make their life’s work helping others who need a hand?
Send your stories to commencement@uci.edu. We can’t guarantee 15 minutes of fame or that we’ll be able to use every suggestion, but we’ll do our best to follow up as many as possible. Stories may be used in UCI publications or other campus news media.
Visit the Commencement site for ceremony schedules and important information for graduates, family and guests.
See you at 2009 Commencement!
