Parent & Family Association Update: UCI Parents Get Involved!
The UC Irvine Parent & Family Association (PFA) would like to thank all of our members who have participated in and contributed to the winter season’s activities.
In January, Vice Chancellor Manuel N. Gómez hosted a breakfast on campus for PFA members. Vice Chancellor Gómez discussed the important role that parents play in their student’s education and highlighted some of the new and exciting additions to campus: the new UCI Student Center and recent Cross-Cultural Center expansion. After the breakfast, parents received a guided tour of the new Student Center from Jack McManus, the Director of UCI Hospitality & Dining Services. Thank you Jack!
In February, parents and PFA members were invited to see the First Annual Peter’s Parade held on campus. Lead by UCI’s mascot, Peter the Anteater, student organizations decorated and paraded golf carts around campus and Ring Mall (see Daily Pilot story). This spectacular and spirited event will be held annually as a kick off to UCI’s Homecoming week. A big thank you to our two parent volunteer judges, Mr. Fred Kong and the Honorable Salvador Sarmiento, who assisted in determining the winners of the competition.
If you are interested in learning more about the Parent & Family Association and the activities associated with the PFA, please call 949-824-0570 or go to the UCI Parents website to view the events calendar and to download the online membership form.
